Annual Budget: Each year, the City begins preparation for a new budget. We begin the process in Februarary. There are usually two or three public workshops on the budget. The public is invited to attend or submit comments and suggestions. After a public hearing, the City Council approves the budget in May. The new budget year begins on July 1 and runs through June 30 of the next calendar year. That is why the budget has a two year identifier. This budget cycle is mandated by the State of Michigan. If you have comments or suggestions for the City's budget, please contact the City Manager.
